The Litigation Adjuster will become part of a dedicated team focused on handling auto and premises liability claims, including New York Labor Law, construction defect, and third-party property damage matters.     Key Responsibilities

    • Manage a portfolio of complex, high-exposure litigated claims involving challenging liability and damage issues.
    • Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal claims professionals, policyholders, attorneys, agents, expert witnesses, and third-party service providers.
    • Evaluate insurance coverage by interpreting policy language, analyzing claim facts, and preparing timely coverage position letters.
    • Direct and oversee thorough claim investigations, evaluations, and resolution strategies.
    • Establish and maintain accurate claim reserves in accordance with company reserving practices.
    • Negotiate fair and equitable settlements directly with plaintiff and defense attorneys.
    • Identify potential risk transfer opportunities through contractual agreements and applicable laws.
    • Monitor litigation activity and collaborate with defense counsel to develop effective litigation strategies.
    • Select and manage outside experts when appropriate to support claim resolution.
    • Deliver exceptional customer service while balancing financial responsibility and sound claim handling practices.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
    • Minimum of three (3) years of commercial casualty claims experience.
    • Experience handling New York Labor Law, construction defect, and/or third-party property damage claims is highly preferred.
    • Candidates with a Juris Doctor (JD) and insurance defense litigation experience seeking a transition into claims are encouraged to apply.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage defense counsel, evaluate complex liability exposures, and develop effective claim resolution strategies.
    • Industry designations (AIC, CPCU, SCLA, or similar), or progress toward obtaining them, are a plus.
