    Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week

    About the Role

    A well-established Western New York nonprofit organization is seeking an Accountant to play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards. This position supports day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, and audit preparation. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, is a self-starter, and can work independently or collaboratively with the accounting team. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, adaptable, and willing to assist with a variety of accounting responsibilities as needed.     Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    • Perform general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and account analysis
    • Manage intercompany accounting, including identifying and reconciling intercompany expenses and transactions
    • Assist with preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and annual budgets
    • Ensure compliance with internal accounting policies and procedures
    • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations
    • Maintain fixed asset records, including additions, disposals, and transfers; support annual audit requirements
    • File quarterly sales tax returns
    • Assist with preparation of IRS filings, including Forms 990 and 990-T (preferred experience)
    • Ensure financial practices adhere to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
    • Support leadership with special projects and process improvement initiatives
    • Perform other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
    • Strong general ledger background, including trial balances and account analysis
    • Positive attitude, sound judgment, and strong problem-solving skills
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a team
    • Strong time management and organizational skills; comfortable managing multiple priorities
    • Ability to work under pressure and maintain professionalism
    • Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

    • Experience with accounting and financial software (QuickBooks preferred)
    • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality

    Compensation $66,560 – $74,880
