    ABOUT OUR CLIENT

Join a well-established, growing organization in the industrial services sector, with a strong reputation for stability across the Northeast. The company is in the midst of a major systems modernization initiative driven by a significant acquisition, creating a rare opportunity for a Data Engineer to help shape its data infrastructure from the ground up rather than inherit someone else’s legacy setup.   In addition to this newly created Data Engineer role, the VP of IT & Data Analytics is adding an Enterprise Solutions Team Lead that this role will eventually report to.

    WHY THIS ROLE

As a Data Engineer (also known in the market as an Azure Data Engineer or ETL/Data Pipeline Engineer), you will play a foundational role in building this organization’s data pipeline infrastructure. Today, ETL/ELT processing is entirely manual, so you’ll have real autonomy, alongside data leadership, to select the tools and approaches that define how data flows across the business for years to come, all within a modern Azure and Microsoft Fabric environment.

    WHAT YOU’LL DO

*This role can be remote for candidates not local to Buffalo, NY.

    * Build new data pipelines from scratch, moving data from ERP and API sources through a Medallion (Bronze/Silver/Gold) Lakehouse architecture in Microsoft Fabric.
    * Select and implement ETL/ELT tools and approaches, in partnership with data leadership, to replace current manual data processing.
    * Support a mix of batch loads for static master data and near-real-time data flows as pipelines mature.
    * Partner with the Enterprise Solutions Team Lead and business stakeholders, contributing to and influencing pipeline design.
    * Deliver clean, validated, analytics-ready data to the Power BI, Flow, and Apps analyst team.
    * Build and maintain pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric, and Data Lake environments.
    * Use GitHub and DevOps practices for version control and deployment of data pipeline code.
    * Troubleshoot data quality and pipeline issues to ensure data integrity for downstream reporting and analytics.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    * Strong hands-on experience with Python and SQL for data engineering work.
    * Experience building and maintaining pipelines, in Azure Data Factory or similar.
    * Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Lake environments or similar technology.
    * Understanding of Medallion (Bronze/Silver/Gold) architecture and Lakehouse data layering concepts.
    * Experience with GitHub and DevOps practices for source control and pipeline deployment.
    * Experience working within an existing data warehouse or lakehouse environment.
    * Comfort supporting both batch and near-real-time data processing.
    * Experience integrating data from ERP and API sources into a unified data platform.

BONUS SKILLS / OPPORTUNITY TO GROW

    * Experience building or architecting a data warehouse or lakehouse from the ground up.
    * Experience selecting and standing up new ETL/ELT tooling for an organization moving off manual processes.
    * Background supporting AI- or ML-ready data initiatives.
    * Interest in growing into a data architecture role as the function matures.

    BENEFITS

    *Generous PTO and annual bonus!

Join a well-established, growing organization in the industrial  services sector, with a strong reputation for stability across the Northeast. * Familiarity with GitHub and DevOps practices for engineering team standards.
    * Experience mentoring engineers earlier in their data or pipeline engineering careers.
    * Interest in shaping enterprise data platform strategy as the team and its tooling continue to mature.
