QA Automation Engineer (Contract)
Location: Buffalo, NY (Hybrid – onsite presence required)
Duration: 12+ month contract
Employment Type: W2 contract
Pay Rate: $50–$65+ per hour (depending on experience)
We are seeking an experienced QA Automation Engineer to support a long-term engagement with a team based in Buffalo, NY. This is a hybrid, onsite role, and candidates must reside in or be able to commute to the Buffalo area. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with automated testing, framework development, and collaboration within Agile environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and execute automated test scripts using tools such as Selenium, Cucumber, TestNG, or comparable frameworks
- Build, enhance, and maintain scalable automation frameworks to support continuous integration and delivery
- Partner closely with developers, business analysts, and QA team members to review requirements and define effective test strategies
- Perform functional, regression, and performance testing across applications
- Execute both manual and automated test cases and analyze results to ensure product quality
- Identify, document, and track defects; collaborate with development teams through resolution
- Actively participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives
- Provide clear, timely QA status updates, metrics, and testing results to stakeholders
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in test automation within a software development environment
- Hands-on experience testing UI and APIs using Selenium or similar tools
- Proven experience building or enhancing automation frameworks
- Proficiency in Java, Python, or JavaScript
- Experience with automation and testing tools such as Selenium, JUnit/TestNG, Cucumber, Cypress
- Strong understanding of QA methodologies, tools, and best practices
- Experience testing RESTful APIs using tools like Postman or RestAssured
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or GitHub Actions
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment
