Job Title: Legal Assistant

Reports To: Office Manager / Director of Office Operations
Location: Buffalo, NY (Hybrid after onboarding)
About the Role We are seeking a detail-oriented Legal Assistant to support a team of attorneys in a fast-paced, professional legal environment. This role offers a hybrid schedule after the initial onboarding period (approximately 90 days), with 3 days in-office and 2 days remote, providing both collaboration and flexibility. You will play a key role in keeping legal operations running smoothly, managing documents, coordinating schedules, and ensuring deadlines are met, while working both independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, format, and proofread legal documents, correspondence, and memos
- Manage attorney calendars, deadlines, and scheduling (hearings, depositions, meetings)
- Coordinate with clients during intake and ongoing case activity
- Maintain organized electronic and physical files
- Arrange travel and conference logistics as needed
- Support billing and accounting processes (pro formas, check requests, matter intake/updates)
- Collaborate with other Legal Assistants to support team needs
- Ensure accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism in all work
Qualifications
- 2+ years of legal administrative experience (law firm preferred)
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree is a plus
- Familiarity with legal terminology, documents, and procedures
- Experience with docketing and electronic filing (litigation experience preferred)
- Strong technical skills (Microsoft Office, document management systems)
- Exceptional attention to detail and proofreading ability
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work with attorneys and clients
- High level of discretion and professionalism
